50 Frugal Christmas Ideas

Christmas is quickly approaching, and it’s time to start planning. I’ve found that if I take the time to PLAN a frugal holiday season, I get less caught up in the urge to spend once December is here. With that in mind, here are 50 frugal things you can do to celebrate the holiday season.

1. Read a book a day. I read about this tradition a couple of years ago at Debt-Proof Living (http://www.debtproofliving.com/), and it’s quickly become my family’s favorite tradition. Buy 24 children’s Christmas books (I bought them used to save money), wrap them up, then have your children unwrap one book a day starting December first. We re-wrap the same books year after year, and my family looks forward to reading our Christmas favorites. Apparently Mary Hunt devotes a section of Debt-Proof the Holidays to this tradition, so head to the library and check it out!

2. Celebrate Advent with an Advent Wreath. You can even make the wreath yourself (http://www.christiancrafters.com/adventwreath.htm) . That’s more frugal than buying one. There’s even a “no-flame” version for families who have young children (http://www.christiancrafters.com/no_flame_advent_wreath.html).

3. Pray for people send you Christmas Cards. A good time to do this is after dinner. Or pray for them during your advent time, if you’re using the advent wreath.

4. Attend a Christmas pageant in your community. Many churches and schools put them on. Check your paper or call your local churches to find one. This year one of our local churches is putting on a production of Narnia. I can’t wait!

5. Have a family slumber party in the living room. Pull out the sleeping bags and turn on the Christmas lights. Just enjoy being together as a family.

6. Go Christmas caroling. Grab some friends or just go as a family. Get to know your neighbors as you bless them with Christmas carols.

7. See the Christmas lights. Drive around your town and look at the decked out houses. Vote on which neighborhood has the best display.

8. Look at pictures from Christmas past. I don’t know about your family, but mine likes to look back in time. Pull out the photo albums. Tell your children about your Christmas celebrations as a child.

9. Do a puzzle together.

10. Bake Christmas cookies. My daughter and I have been making sugar cookies together every year for a long time.

11. String popcorn.

12. Read the Christmas story. Read it straight out of the Bible, or use a bible storybook if you have young children.

13. Pick up some library books and study Christmas Traditions in other countries. This year I’d like to learn about Sinterklaas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sinterklaas)with my children, since I am Dutch, and my ancestors celebrated Sinterklaas.

14. Host a White Elephant gift exchange. These are so fun. With the right group of people, you’ll be rolling in laughter. If you’ve never hosted a white elephant gift exchange before, the instructions can be found here (http://www.wikihow.com/Organize-a-White-Elephant-Gift-Exchange0. Now where did I put that rubber chicken?

15. Make your own gifts. My personal favorites are gifts in a jar (http://www.recipegoldmine.com/foodgift/foodgift.html) and homemade calendars. Gift baskets (http://www.allthingschristmas.com/basketideas.html) are also fun. There are a ton of gift mixes at Food Gifts From Your Kitchen (http://www.razzledazzlerecipes.com/mix-recipes/index.htm).

16. Participate in Operation Christmas Child or another charity. We like to fill shoe boxes for children the same ages as our children. Our children help us shop and at the same time learn that Christmas is about giving, not getting.

17. Make paper snowflakes with your kids. If you want a real challenge, make a 3-D paper snowflake (http://www.wikihow.com/Make-a-3D-Paper-Snowflake).

18. Make a paper chain to count down the days until Christmas. Alternate green and red construction paper. You can attach the chain to a paper cross or Christmas tree and hang it up on your child’s wall. Each night before bed take off a link. On Christmas Eve, the child takes off the last link, and then gets so excited that she can’t sleep. Oh wait…that happened to me. Hopefully it won’t happen to you. :)

19. Have a Christmas movie marathon. Get the movies from the library if you want to be really frugal. Some of our favorites are The Polar Express, Miracle on 34th Street, and A Christmas Story.

20. Invite some friends or family over for dinner. It doesn’t have to be formal. Just enjoy the company. Make it a potluck. Or have a soup night. Have everyone bring their favorite soup in a crock-pot.

21. Make a gingerbread house. You can try the ambitious way (http://www.gingerbreadcottage.com/gingerbreadhousedirections.html), or you can make one the easy way.

22. Visit a nursing home or an elderly shut in. The holidays can be a difficult time for those who have lost loved ones. Visit an elderly person with no family nearby. Bring some flowers, food, or a homemade Christmas card. It will brighten their day…and yours.

23. Attend your community tree-lighting ceremony. Many communities have them, and they are festive occasions. If you don’t mind the crowds, tree-lighting ceremonies can be a lot of fun.

24. Put on some Christmas music and dance with your spouse and children.

25. Learn the history of Santa. I think it’s pretty fascinating.

26. Track Santa on NORAD. ( http://www.noradsanta.org/)

27. Make candy. Our favorites are fudge (http://www.fudge-recipes.net/) and peanut brittle. (http://recipes.lovetoknow.com/wiki/Category:Peanut_Brittle_Recipes)

28. Make a Paper Mache snowman.(http://www.kids-party-paradise.com/paper-mache-snowman.html)

29. Play in the snow.

30. Simmer some hot cider. There are many good recipes out there (http://www.cooks.com/rec/search/0,1-0,hot_cider,FF.html). Or if you’re lazy, just heat up some bottled cider.

31. Go ice skating. Ice skating rinks frequently have special rates when kids are out of school for the holiday break. Call your local rink to find out about specials.

32. Have a birthday party for Jesus. Make a cake, invite the neighborhood kids over, and have a party. For gifts, you could give time or make a commitment to read your Bible, pray…whatever you can think of!

33. Watch the Christmas specials on TV. My personal favorites are Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, How the Grinch Stole Christmas, and A Charlie Brown Christmas.

34. Send a card with a Christmas postmark to someone special. You can have letters postmarked at the North Pole, Bethlehem, Noel, and many more interesting places.(http://blog.christmaslettertips.com/2009/05/02/north-pole-postmark-and-other-christmas-postmarks/)

35. Read The Best Christmas Pageant Ever (http://www.amazon.com/Best-Christmas-Pageant-Ever/dp/0064402754/ref=pd_bbs_2/104-5347186-4231913?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1194413551&sr=8-2) with your family. If you’ve never read it, you should. It’s really funny!

36. Hang mistletoe. Then kiss your sweetie.

37. Make your own Christmas cards. Have everyone pitch in. Family Fun has some good ideas. (http://familyfun.go.com/christmas/christmas-gifts-cards-decorations/)

38. Write a Christmas letter, with everyone in the family telling their own story of the past year. Our friends do this. They start the letter with “Dad’s Turn” and work their way down to the youngest child’s turn. It’s fun to read everyone’s differing perspective on the past year.

39. Make a video and send it to far away relatives for Christmas. We did this for years. We’d sing songs, tell stories, and just have a good time. Our relatives appreciated seeing how the kids had grown over the year.

40. Make Christmas ornaments. (http://familyfun.go.com/christmas/christmas-gifts-cards-decorations/christmas-decorations/christmas-ornaments/)

41. Cut your own Christmas tree. In Oregon you can buy a permit to go to a designated place in the forest to cut a tree. The permits are $5.00. You can’t beat that. If you don’t have a forest, try a Christmas tree farm. It’s more expensive, but still often cheaper than buying from a lot. Of course the most frugal option would be to buy a fake tree to use year after year. But if you like live trees, cutting your own is the way to go.

42. Take a walk and collect pine-cones, acorns and the like for decorations.

43. Make an Advent Calendar. You could make a simple paper calendar (http://www.kidsturncentral.com/holidays/christmas/ccrafts19.htm). Or if you’re more crafty, you could make something more complicated (http://www.ehow.com/how_11216_make-advent-calendar.html). There are many options.

44. Make a Jesse Tree.(http://www.freecraftsandgames.com/jesse_tree.html)

45. Fix a special Christmas breakfast. I usually make the Land of Nod Cinnamon Buns (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Land-of-Nod-Cinnamon-Buns/Detail.aspx) and Christmas Breakfast Sausage Casserole (http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Christmas-Breakfast-Sausage-Casserole/Detail.aspx). I like these recipes, because the bulk of the preparation is done the day before.

46. Hold an open house. Send invites to all your friends, telling them to stop by your house between the hours of two and five. Set out simple finger foods, and enjoy socializing.

47. Take your family’s picture in front of the Christmas tree. Make it a yearly tradition.

48. Send a card to a U.S. soldier that you know. If you don’t know a U.S. soldier, consider making a donation to an organization that supports the troops (http://www.ourmilitary.mil/index.aspx). Or contact your local National Guard to see how you can help.

49. Record your children singing their favorite Christmas carols. Children’s voices change so much over the years. Twenty years from now, you’ll be glad to have the recording.

50. Go to a Christmas Eve Service. It’s completely free, and it will put you in the right frame of mind to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.

Whatever you do, slow down and enjoy the season. Don’t get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of Christmas that you forget to take time to enjoy your loved ones.

Help! I Can't Afford Christmas

Help! I Can't Afford Christmas

by Colleen Moulding

The less money you have to spend on Christmas the earlier you have to get started. Bargains go quickly as we all know. Firstly, make sure you get along to any car boot/garage/yard/tag sales in your area, looking out for baskets that you can package gifts in, pretty china, toys in excellent condition with all the pieces present, inexpensive hand made crafts and second hand books that look brand new.

Also keep an eye open for children's videos and puzzles - count the pieces, board games - check the contents, and potted up houseplant cuttings that you can grow on and put into a pretty pot.

Don't worry too much about toys for tinies being boxed - they won't mind if it's wrapped in gift paper as long as all the bits are there. Baskets can be washed in warm water and dried outside or in the airing cupboard, then filled with items especially chosen for the person you're giving to. For example, for a friend who loves sewing, make up a patchwork basket, containing a template for the shapes, ready cut squares or hexagons of fabric, threads, needles, pincushion or scissors.

Two mugs, special tea bags, mini pots of honey and marmalade make a breakfast basket, similarly mugs, sachets of hot chocolate, and a lavender sachet to aid peaceful sleep make a goodnight basket.

Crumple tissue paper into the basket first, then arrange the items prettily before covering with cellophane and tying with crinkly ribbon and gift bows.

A variation on this theme is a gardener's flower pot. Half fill a flowerpot with crumpled paper or straw. Arrange packets of seeds, inexpensive hand trowel/fork, plant labels/ties, notebook, green string and budget gardening book or magazine.

Haunt the cut price shops for presents that may just need some creative pairing with another inexpensive item to make a lovely gift. Consider pairing:

A scented candle and bubble bath
Recipe book and mixing bowl or cookery utensils
Joke book and whoopee cushion
Video, cola and popcorn
Pack of cards and six pack of lager/beer
Paperback book and box of chocolates
Houseplant and plant care guide
Calendar and diary
Disposable camera or film and photo album
Pretty apron and canisters or cake tin
Hair scrunchies and hairbrush or shampoo

Once you start thinking along these lines you'll probably come up with lots more ideas of your own.

Use the skills you have to make presents. If you can cook make cakes, cookies or fudge. If you can sew make frilled cushion/pillow covers to match your friend's room scheme from remnants of fabric. If you can arrange flowers fix a piece of florist's foam to a piece of bark or charity shop shallow bowl and make a Christmas arrangement with berries, cones and foliage that you can pick up for free.

Grandparents are usually more than happy to receive framed photographs of their precious grandchildren - the collage type are often particularly welcome.

Or what about printing out an inspirational piece of poetry or prose such as Desiderata in an antique type font. Paint it with a solution of tea to "age" it a little and frame it for an unusual gift.

Help to pack out your own children's stockings by making a whole videotape of their favourite television shows, icing cookies with their initials and making up little craft boxes containing paper, glue, sticky shapes, oddments of wool for hair and felt cut into shapes for eyes, mouths, noses etc.

Finally if you have no cash at all write or print out some gift vouchers offering your time for babysitting, housework, gardening, decorating, car washing - whatever you can manage. You will be surprised at how well they will be received.

And remember none of your friends or family would want you to go without essentials or get into debt just to give them a present. It's very easy to lose sight of this fact as we are seduced by all the advertising hype

Frugal tips for saving money at Christmas

Frugal tips for saving money at Christmas

*Christmas Cards:

1. Either don’t send Christmas cards or cut your list in half!

2. Send postcards or letters, instead of Christmas cards.

3. You can even cut your old Christmas cards from last year in half, and send the pretty side as a postcard. I did this many years and it works great, plus you’re being ‘earth friendly’ by keeping new cards out of the garbage dumps.

4. If you send postcards, whether purchased or homemade, remember they require less postage than a regular card!

5. Christmas cards always go on sale better in December; this is one time when the early birds do not beat us!

6. If you purchase inexpensive cards at a discount store, just look them through carefully. Some look really cheap, while others are much prettier. If you’re going to buy Christmas cards, they might as well look nice!

7. Make a short phone call at 5 cents a minute, a 7 minute call would still cost less than a postage stamp, and your loved ones would probably much rather you’re your voice than receive a card in the mail.

*Wrapping Paper:

8. Use magazine pages to wrap small gifts.

9. The comic section of your newspaper also makes pretty paper. (I once saved them up for a few months before Christmas and had enough to make a gift out of a relative’s favorite comic strip. They loved it!)

10. Use your children’s artwork, or create your own on plain paper… the large reams of packing paper are great for this, contact anyone who’s in the process of moving!

11. Save used wrapping paper all through the year, just roll them back onto the paper tube and place a small piece of scotch tape on the edge to hold in place. These really work great for small gifts where the previously folded lines won’t even show. If the paper is the wrong theme, you could just turn it over and decorate the plain side yourself!

12. Don’t buy expensive ribbons and bows to decorate your packages, if you hunt around you can find the cheap stuff that will be just as pretty!

13. Forget the gift tags, make your own by cutting a small piece of matching paper and folding it in half. Write the “To and From” on the inside of the paper and tape it to the wrapped present. This is great for scraps of paper that are too small to wrap a gift, but too large to toss away.

14. Cut up old Christmas cards make great gift tags too!

15. If you sew, you could even use scrap material to wrap gifts.

16. Or inexpensive tissue paper that you’ve saved from other gifts throughout the year. Then decorate the wrapped gift with little smiley faces, Christmas trees, or even just the words “Merry Christmas!” You could even add some glitter if you have some on hand.

*Decorations:

17. Don’t decorate.

18. Don’t decorate with expensive things!!!

19. The stores have incredible sales every year for decorations, buy close to the holiday or even better, after the holiday! You could fill your house with beautiful holiday decorations every year (if you wanted to), for a small fraction of what they originally cost!

20. Save your children’s (or grandchildren’s) holiday crafts and artwork from school each year, after a few years you’ll have a houseful of free and beautiful decorations! And the joy your child will feel seeing his/her artwork proudly displayed year after year is priceless.

21. Have a warm and cozy Christmas the old-fashioned way. Pop some popcorn and string it up all over the house!

22. Add some cranberries to your popcorn string for a touch of color.

23. Decorate your house by bringing the outside in, using pinecones and acorns! Sprinkle with a few drops of pine scented oil if you have it on hand, I know a lot of you just might!

24. Invest in an artificial tree after Christmas - when they go on clearance!

25. And don’t try to get all your tree ornaments in one year (this one is especially true for newlyweds), it took your parents years to collect what they have… and each ornament is more special because of it.

*Food:

26. Many grocery stores are offering great deals during the holidays, some are even giving away food, or cash! Read the paper every week for your local deals, or if you don’t subscribe to the newspaper, pick up the free ad flyers at the store and take it home so you’ll have time to look it over really good before shopping.

27. Compare prices! I like to buy whatever’s on sale at one store, then a few days later when we need more milk anyways, I go to a second store and get their best deals, it’s a great money-saver!

28. Store brands are great when making casseroles and side dishes… no one will even notice!

29. Cook your turkey in a large Reynolds cooking bag and you won’t need to buy an expensive Butterball, any brand will be wonderful!

30. Stock up while everything’s on sale, just an extra can or box here and there… not a storage closet full! If you end up with too many bargain buys, share them with your local food bank!

31. Visit our Grocery Saving Tips Web site for more ideas on saving money at the grocery store, with or without coupons!

*Entertainment:

32. It’s wonderful to take your family to the movie theater during the Christmas holiday break, but this could also be a good time to catch up on the videos that have come out for rental during the holiday season. NetFlix even lets you rent DVDs online and there’s no charge for late fees (use our link for a 30-day free trial!)

33. Another great and frugal way to entertain the family through the holidays is to take a drive around your town, or another one nearby, to see the Christmas lights. It’s a family tradition of ours to do this on Christmas Eve and we look forward to it every year!

34. Get out the board games, the kids will love spending time with you. If you don’t have many to choose from, maybe you can borrow a new game from a friend or neighbor. You never know, they might have a closet full they never even use!

35. Playing cards is always fun too, even when the kids are little you can play Go Fish… we’re making memories here.

36. Sing, sing, sing! Many churches and groups even have caroling get-togethers in December, what fun!

37. Sit around a warm fire, or cozy up in the living room with blankets and hot cocoa. Tell family stories… or have everyone take turns saying how they have been blessed throughout the year, like we do at Thanksgiving. Being thankful shouldn’t end in November, keep the spirit going!

38. Have a family gathering to decorate the tree, wrap gifts, or bake cookies. (And if you do enjoy baking cookies, we'd love to have you join our Cookie Club!)

39. Check out a Christmas book from the library and read it together as a family. Or, decide on a story and have everyone contribute a chapter to create a new Christmas book... maybe even one about your own family!

*Presents

1. Minimize the gifts you buy your child

Once you get past the third or fourth gift, no matter how great the gifts are, you hit a wall of diminishing returns with your child where some of the gifts won’t be met with much enthusiasm and will be tossed aside. Instead, focus on three or four quality gifts for them instead of a pile of junk. It was because of this tactic that my parents were able to get me some very memorable Christmas gifts even though they were quite poor – they just focused usually on one or two incredible presents.

2. Try to make sure at least one of the gifts for your child is very open-ended.

Open-ended toys – meaning ones that encourage creative play – are often ones that have huge amounts of replay value for the kids. Compare, say, Legos to a Tickle Me Elmo doll. The Tickle Me Elmo doll gets tickled a few times, it rolls around, and the kid laughs, but it grows old quickly. On the other hand, Legos can be used to build an infinite array of items (at least until you get into the “kits,” but even those can be modified by a creative child).

3. Give a handmade gift certificate

if you're not into calligraphy or art, make it on the computer. Give a certificate for several nights of babysitting. Or for a favorite niece or nephew, maybe a trip to the zoo in the spring.

4. Do you have a new "in-law" in your family?

Give her a special calendar marked with birthdays, anniversaries and other special days. Tuck in a few recipe cards with favorite family recipes on them.

5. Gift for a young man

From dollar store- Bucket, car shampoo, sponge, keychain, tire cleaner, ice scraper, tire gauge, car wax (not all of these items, just select two or three and they make a nice gift)

6. Instead of buying a gift for everyone in your sister's or brother's famiy, think about giving on gift that everyone can enjoy.

How about a jigsaw puzzle? Package it with a big package of Microwave popcorn and some hot chocolate mix and they'll be all set for family night.

7. Anothter great family gift is a nice christmas-theamed cookie jar filled with - your guessed it-Christmas candy!

Every year when they get out the christmas cookie jar, they will think of you (walmart usually has cute xmas ones for about $5 so that plust the cost of candy isn't that much for a whole family gift)

8. Grandparents loved to receive anything that grandchildren have made

Frame some of the children's artwork in a nice frame ($1 at the dollar tree) maybe even a magnetic frame. Or do a collage of photos of the grandchildren.

9. Craft stores are a great place to shop

hobby and craft stores have craft and art kits for $5 or less most times that would make great gifts

10. A swimmer can alway use a new set of ear plugs

11. For someone who travels get them some travel bottles of lotion, hair spray, deoderant

12. Everyone can use a new lint remover mitt

13. Most women will appreciate a bottle of bubble bath ($1 at the dollar tree)

14. Find a key chain that represents the recipient's hobby

15. Coffe lovers will appreciate small bags of flavored coffee and/or a nice coffee mug

Most Sensible Advice on H1N1

The Most Sensible Advice About H1N1!
How to prevent H1N1 – An eMail forward is reproduced below:
Friends,
Thanks to media hype about H1N1, several people who trust me have either approached or called me to advice. The hype in media about the utility of face masks and N95 respirators as a tool for general protection against H1N1 can't be deplored enough. Yesterday, a friend who listened wanted me to write down briefly what I advised so that he could tell others in similar words. Hence this short email to friends whom I have advised recently (and others whom I haven't yet). Please realize that this is not an official advice, especially the one about face masks or N95. Most N95 respirators are designed to filter 95% particulates of 0.3µ, while the size of H1N1 virus is about 0.1µ. Hence, dependence on N95 to protect against H1N1 is like protecting against rain with an umbrella made of mosquito net.
Tamiflu does not kill but prevents H1N1 from further proliferation till the virus limits itself in about 1-2 weeks (its natural cycle). H1N1, like other Influenza A viruses, only infects the upper respiratory tract and proliferates (only) there. The only portals of entry are the nostrils and mouth/ throat. In a global epidemic of this nature, it's almost impossible not coming into contact with H1N1 in spite of all precautions. Contact with H1N1 is not so much of a problem as proliferation is. While you are still healthy and not showing any symptoms of H1N1 infection, in order to prevent proliferation, aggravation of symptoms and development of secondary infections, some very simple steps - not fully highlighted in most official communications - can be practiced (instead of focusing on how to stock N95 or Tamiflu):
1. Frequent hand-washing (well highlighted in all official communications).
2. "Hands-off-the-face" approach. Resist all temptations to touch any part of face (unless you want to eat or bathe)..
3. Gargle twice a day with warm salt water (use Listerine if you don't trust salt). H1N1 takes 2-3 days after initial infection in the throat/ nasal cavity to proliferate and show characteristic symptoms. Simple gargling prevents proliferation. In a way, gargling with salt water has the same effect on a healthy individual that Tamiflu has on an infected one. Don't underestimate this simple, inexpensive and powerful preventative method.
4. Similar to 3 above, clean your nostrils at least once every day with warm salt water. Not everybody may be good at Jala Neti or Sutra Neti (very good Yoga asanas to clean nasal cavities), but blowing the nose hard once a day and swabbing both nostrils with cotton buds dipped in warm salt water is very effective in bringing down viral population.
5. Boost your natural immunity with foods that are rich in Vitamin C (Amla and other citrus fruits). If you have to supplement with Vitamin C tablets, make sure that it also has Zinc to boost absorption.
6. Drink as much of warm liquids as you can. Drinking warm liquids has the same effect as gargling, but in the reverse direction. They wash off proliferating viruses from the throat into the stomach where they cannot survive, proliferate or do any harm.
7. All these are simple ways to prevent, within means of most households, and certainly much less painful than to wait in long queues outside public hospitals.
Happy breathing!
Best regards,
Dr.Ashutosh Mundkur

From a frustrated victim of chain mails

I wanted to thank all my friends and family who have forwarded chain letters to me in 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 and continuing it in 2009 also.......

Because of your kindness:

* I stopped drinking Coca Cola after I found out that it's good for removing toilet stains.

* I stopped going to the movies for fear of sitting on a needle infected with AIDS.

* Forwarded hundreds of mails but still waiting for FREE DESKTOP, LAPTOP, CAMERA, CELLPHONE etc…..

* I smell like a wet dog since I stopped using deodorants because they cause cancer...

* I don't leave my car in the parking lot or any other place and sometimes I even have to walk about 7 blocks for fear that someone will drug me with a perfume sample and try to rob me.

* I also stopped answering the phone for fear that they may ask me to dial a stupid number and then I get a phone bill with calls to Uganda, Pakistan, Singapore andTokyo...

* I also stopped drinking anything out of a Can for fear that I will get sick from the rat faeces and urine.

* When I go to parties, I don't look at any girl, no matter how hot she is, for fear that she will take me to a hotel, drug me, then take my kidneys and leave me taking a nap in a bathtub full of ice.

*
I also donated all my savings to the Amy Bruce account. A sick girl that was about to die in the hospital about 7,000 times.... (Poor girl! she's been 7 since 1993...)

* Still open to help somebody from Nigeria who wants to use my account to transfer his uncle's property of $ 100 million. So much trustworthy.

* I have forwarded 35 emails to 400 people hoping that Ericsson or Nokia will send melatest mobile phones but those models are also obsolete now.

* Made some Hundred wishes before forwarding those Ganesh , Tirupathi Balaji picsetc. Now most of those 'Wishes' are already married (to someone else)

NOW IMPORTANT NOTE:

If you do not send this e-mail to at least 11,246 people in the next 10 seconds, a bird will Pee on your head today at 6:30pm.

Nothing has happened till now....................... but who knows. So please forward..

10 Ways To Wrap Your Gift

10 Ways To Wrap Your Gift

When I receive a gift, I appreciate whatever anyone gives me. But, for some reason, the gift givers that seems to put a little more detail to their wrapping I remembered more then the gifts that are not wrapped and thrown in a gift bag. Here are 10 ideas you can do to have the gift you give be remembered...

1. Add an ornament or floral spray on top of the gift.
2. Use multiple colors of ribbon.
3. For children attach a small toy or pencil to the top of the gift.
4. Take party streamers and wrap the gift into a ball.
5. Wrap a gift with 2-3 layers of wrapping paper or wrap the gift and put it in a box then wrap that box and put it in another box, wrap that box, then put in another box and so on.
6. Instead of Wrapping paper, wrap your gift from the Comic section of the newspaper or a road map.
7. Wrap with colored duct tape.
8. Scanned some family photos, then glued them on plain brown paper.
9. Buy pretty cloth, cut it with shears, into squares, hem it and make a dishtowel then wrap the gift in it & tie with yarn.
10. Make or buy a pinata, fill it with a gift(s) instead of candy.

You know you are too old to Trick or Treat when:

You know you are too old to Trick or Treat when:

10. You get winded from knocking on the door.

9. You have to have another kid chew the candy for you.

8. You ask for high fiber candy only.

7. When someone drops a candy bar in your bag, you lose your balance and fall over.

6. People say: "Great Boris Karloff Mask," And you're not wearing a mask.

5. When the door opens you yell, "Trick or..." And can't remember the rest.

4. By the end of the night, you have a bag full of restraining orders.

3. You have to carefully choose a costume that won't dislodge your hairpiece.

2. You're the only Power Ranger in the neighborhood with a walker.

And the number one reason Seniors should not go
